About Peerclass

Peerclass is a grassroots twist on the traditional writing masterclass, hosted by Jasmin Allenspach of The Original Writers of London. We take pride in our writing group's diversity and the breadth of knowledge that comes with it. So rather than developing our craft with the expensive help of established masters, we take turns leading classes ourselves and learning from our peers. Peerclass runs monthly on the second Thursday on Zoom, 7-9pm UK time. Each month brings a talk on a new writing topic, followed by a Q&A and group discussion. We're always happy to welcome a new face to our supportive community, so come along as we grow into better writers together in the next Peerclass. Join for the wisdom, stay for the craic!

About The Original Writers of London

The Original Writers of London (OWL) is a writing community based in London but connecting writers across the globe through its online workshops. Besides a weekly critique workshop on Tuesdays, we host the monthly Peerclass and a semi-annual intensive workshop. Founded in 2005 at the Battersea Arts Centre, OWL moved online in 2020 and has grown its international membership ever since, while still celebrating its London roots with regular meet-ups. Our writers hail from all walks of life, corners of the planet, ages, and literary genres. Writing workshopped in our group has gone on to be professionally published and produced. It has received accolades such as the Edinburgh International Book Festival's First Book Award and the London Library's Emerging Writers Programme (for three years running). OWL is co-run by writers Rupert Davies-Cooke, Gal Podjarny, and Jasmin Allenspach. Membership is free and includes access to Peerclass.

About the Peerclass Host

The Peerclass host, Jasmin Allenspach, beams in a black-and-white photo, wearing a gingham shirt and a short bob with bangs

Jasmin Allenspach created Peerclass as a co-organiser of The Original Writers of London. She is a Swiss writer, educator, and award-winning theoretical physicist living between Zurich and London. Speaking seven languages, she writes in English despite being a native Swiss German speaker. In addition to her own writing, she applies her scientific precision and knack for languages as a freelance editor. When not dissecting sentences or equations, Jasmin trains in classical ballet. She is fond of frosty weather and her far-from-frosty Peerclass family.
